Who’s excited? We’re excited! Why? We get to introduce Quinta da Confeiteira.
Quinta da Confeiteira is a 5 hectare vineyard located just minutes from the central Alentejo city of Evora. There are 5 grape varieties at the property; Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Aragones, Alicante Bouchet and Syrah.
This vineyard used to have some seriously old vines, but they weren’t producing much of anything. The last harvest of the old vines was in 2009 and that produced about 1000L of wine made in a Talha. (A Talha is a giant clay pot that is traditional to the wine region of Alentejo.) We have a few of the last bottles and that wine is a thing of beauty. Lucky us – we have a feeling history will be repeating itself with the new vines.
The first harvest of the new vines was in 2013, producing about 15,000L of wine. These wines are stunners. We’re so excited to be a part of this project and can’t wait to release these outstanding wines to the world. We’re working on the design for the labels right now so keep your eyes peeled for Quinta da Confeiteira.
